How Delivery Works

Legal cannabis delivery is more tightly controlled than most deliveries, and the rules exist for a reason. Knowing them in advance removes almost every way an order can go wrong.

1. Order online

Browse the catalogue and check out. Your address determines what is available — enter a postcode and you will see whether same-day delivery reaches you, or whether the order ships instead.

2. Choose how it arrives

Same-day delivery where it is offered locally, with a window you pick. Shipping where it is not, arriving in a few days. Both bring it to your door.

3. Be there, with ID

Someone of legal age has to receive it in person and show government-issued photo ID. This is the part people are caught out by: it cannot be left on a doorstep, put through a letterbox, or handed to a neighbour.

4. Check the package

Everything arrives sealed in the licensed producer's original child-resistant packaging, with the excise stamp intact. The outer packaging is plain and gives no indication of what is inside.

The one that catches people out

If nobody of legal age is home to show ID, the order goes back — the driver has no discretion about it. Pick a window you are genuinely certain about, and have your ID somewhere you can reach it.

What You Can Order

Because Spark draws on stores right across the network rather than one shop's shelf, the range is wider than any single location carries. Every legal format is here — this is what each one is.

Flower and pre-rolls

Dried cannabis sold by weight, or ground and rolled for you. The percentage on the label is the share of dried weight that is THC — 20% is roughly 200mg per gram. Effects arrive within minutes and fade sooner than any other format.

Vapes

Cannabis oil heated rather than burned. Either a 510 cartridge that screws onto a reusable battery, or an all-in-one disposable that arrives charged. The oil inside varies too — distillate is the most common, live resin keeps more of the plant's aroma.

Edibles and beverages

Capped federally at 10mg of THC per package, which is why every gummy says 10mg. The slowest to arrive — 30 minutes to two hours — and the longest-lasting. Beverages tend to be a little quicker than solids.

Oils, capsules and sprays

Measured by dropper, pre-portioned in a softgel, or delivered as a metered spray under the tongue. The most precisely dosed formats available, and faster than anything swallowed.

Concentrates

Hash, rosin, shatter, live resin, budder — the resin separated from the plant, several times stronger than flower by weight. Made in quite different ways, and not where anyone should begin.

Topicals and accessories

Creams and balms that work where you apply them rather than throughout the body, plus everything used to prepare or consume — grinders, papers, batteries, glassware.

How Long Each Format Takes

Timing is decided by the format far more than by strength. Whichever you order: start low, go slow. Most difficult experiences are someone deciding nothing has happened and taking more before the first amount arrives.

Ranges are approximate and vary by product, amount and person. If you are new to a format, treat the longest figure in the range as the one to wait for.

Cannabis has been legal for adults across Canada since October 2018 under the federal Cannabis Act, which sets the same floor everywhere: licensed production and sale, plain packaging, THC limits per package, and a public possession limit of 30 grams of dried cannabis or its equivalent.

Delivery rules themselves are provincial, so what is available at your address depends on where you are. Cannabis cannot cross an international border in either direction under any circumstances, whatever the law says at the destination.

What Arrives, and What It Says

Canadian cannabis packaging is plain by law, which makes it look uninformative. Every element on it is required and every element means something.

The red cannabis symbol	Required on anything that can intoxicate. It is present or absent — it is not a strength rating
Total THC and total CBD	A percentage of dried weight on flower, milligrams on everything else
A ratio such as 20:1	CBD first, THC second. Twenty times as much CBD, so very little intoxication
Packaging date	When it was packaged, not harvested and not an expiry date
Excise stamp	Colour-coded by province. Proof the product came through the legal supply chain
Licensed producer and lot number	Who made it and which batch — useful for reordering the same thing

A Short Glossary

THC	Tetrahydrocannabinol — the intoxicating compound. A percentage on flower, milligrams on everything else.
CBD	Cannabidiol. Alongside THC in most products and not intoxicating on its own.
Terpenes	The aromatic compounds behind smell and flavour, and arguably part of the character of the effect.
Distillate	Cannabis oil refined until it is largely pure THC. Consistent, potent, fairly neutral in flavour.
Live resin	Extract made from fresh-frozen rather than dried plants, so more of the original terpenes survive.
510 cartridge	The standard vape threading. It is why a cartridge from one brand fits a battery from another.
Dried cannabis equivalent	How the 30 gram public limit applies to non-flower formats. One gram of flower equals 0.25 grams of concentrate or 15 grams of edible product.
Licensed producer	A company federally authorised by Health Canada to grow or manufacture legal cannabis. Everything we deliver comes from one.
Cultivar	The accurate term for what everyone calls a strain.
